Sickies

This week we have had the "sickies."  It has been no fun.  It looks like I got it the worst, which I am grateful for, but Sarah had some pretty not-so-good days too.  Because of the sickies there is not too much to report.  Except for I think we are all feeling better and we are looking forward to all being happy and healthy once more.  

Also, I captured this picture of the kiddos the other day.  Jacob has, all of a sudden, taken a great interest in holding Sarah.  This hasn't really happened much since the first month or two of Sarah's young life.  If I am holding Sarah Jacob will just reach out his arms and say, "I got her, I got her."  Sarah pretty much adores everything about Jacob - really she loves him so much.  And Jacob loves her too but sometimes he gets a little shy about it so you can't make a big deal about his cuteness towards her otherwise he stops.  Funny kid.  I truly do hope these two can be best buddies always.  

Legos

Mark came home this weekend!!!  It was absolutely wonderful.  It felt perfect having our family be whole again.  

On Saturday we went down to Fashion Place Mall because they were hosting the Lego Americana Roadshow.  They had built twelve different American landmarks like the White House, the Lincoln Memorial, Statue of Liberty, and Independence Hall.

We all decided that the U.S. Capital Building was our favorite.  Jacob was convinced it was a temple.  I had never seen any of these landmarks in real life and hope someday I can see them not-Lego sized :)

We spent a lot of time just snuggling away the weekend.  This picture was just too perfect not to put up.  Also, I tried several times to capture Sarah not looking like she is a wild animal sucking on her sock, but alas, this is real life!  We love our little family. 

6 Months

This little sweetie is six months old!  I literally cannot believe it!  She is the sweetest little girl and has everyone wrapped around her little fingers. 

Sarah is 26.6 inches tall (81%), weighs 18 pounds 15 ounces (94%) and has a head circumference of 43.7 centimeters (85%). 

This has been a big month for our little girl.  She has started to eat solid food!  And, with the exception of the first couple of days, has loved it!  She is doing so well. 

Sarah is also rolling around like crazy!  She rolls from her back to her tummy all the time.  The tricky part is she just can't seem to figure out how to go back to her back.  Most kiddos (I have read) go from tummy to back first but both of our kids have done it the other way around.  And Sarah is so close.  I think she just gets scared when she is about halfway and then always flips back to her tummy.  Once she figures it out though we are in trouble.  Because even now this little chika is moving and grooving around.

She has also discovered her toes.  She loves them.  If she is on her back (which doesn't last long!) she is always playing with her toes.  Then she just rolls onto her side and plays with them.  Adorable.

Sleep is the one area that is definitely not Sarah's shining department.  It never really has been.  The things we have to do to get this little girl to sleep!  But she is slowly getting there, I hope, and the last couple of days have been much improved.  Cross your fingers.

Sarah is also getting a lot more control of her body.  She can pick up toys easily and, of course, they go straight to her mouth.  She is strong and can pull her body up on her own if she is slightly reclined.  She is also getting more control and is barely starting to sit on her own.  Much assistance is still needed but I am sure within this next month she'll be sitting like a champ.

We love this sweet little girl.  She is so happy most of the time and just melts our hearts.  She gets more and more beautiful every day.

Life

Life right now is okay.  We are hanging in there.  And here are some of the everyday little moments we have had the last week.  

We spend a lot of time hanging out in Mom and Dad's bed.  The kiddos read and play together, I fold laundry and sometimes we just all lay there together talking about how much we miss Daddy.  

One time we were over at Papa and Grammy's house and Jacob got milk all over his clothes right before his nap so he slept like this...

And then when we went home we put him in one of Grammy's shirts and I had to try and not laugh every time I looked at him the rest of the day.  

It FINALLY snowed here in Utah!  I was ecstatic.  It lasted only a day (and mostly just a morning) but we were loving it.  We went on a little walk to get the mail and then Jacob played outside by our patio while Sarah and I snuggled.  

I love how kids just naturally start to pretend play.  The other day I was giving Sarah her bottle and Jacob brought out his bear and laid him down and told him it was "okay" and got a diaper.  He put on a diaper and socks and he thought it was the best thing in the world.  Then he went and gave him a "bath."  Which by the way consisted of him putting him in the sink and giving him a bath toy.  It was adorable.

  

And then we hang out in Mom and Dad's bed some more.  

Once a week we go grocery shopping.  And luckily Costco has these amazing carts so that the kiddos can sit together and I think it is precious.  By the way, this is pretty much how Sarah looks the whole time we are shopping - "deer in the headlights" kind of look.  

Also, while we were out, after Costco we went to the grocery store and as I was pulling into a spot I told Jacob that I was "pooped," of course meaning that I was tired.  Silly me I didn't realize that Jacob was unfamiliar with this form of the term.  So when our male cashier asked how I was doing Jacob said "Mommy pooped."  I about died.  And then I tried to explain which probably only made it worse.  Motherhood - it's a joy.  Really, it is.  

Or there was that one time when Sarah got the hiccups while we were eating lunch and Jacob AND Sarah thought it was hilarious.  They were laughing hard!  At least Sarah was laughing hard, inbetween her hiccups.  

These are our everyday moments that I am kind of loving right now.
