Moving

Oh moving...what is there to say?!

WE SURVIVED!!!

Last Saturday we {successfully} made our move to Garden City, Utah.  It was an exhausting day.  We could NOT have done it without so much wonderful help.  My Mom came up a couple of days before we moved to Idaho Falls to help with some of the last minute packing.  It was so great to have some fresh pizzazz to packing.  I had been slowly packing for weeks and was happily surprised with all I was able to do but was definitely getting burned out by it all.

Grandma Dixie also came up two days before we moved to help pack our kitchen.  She was a rock star and it was so helpful!  And then the day before, Darlene came up to spend the evening with us and to be an extra driver the next day.

THEN the day of I was so grateful for the many many people that helped in so many ways.  My good friends, Meagan and Jessica for watching the kiddos, my Mom and Darlene for helping clean, and for the men that came out to help Mark load the truck.  Everything got loaded and done so quickly!  I was so overwhelmed with gratitude.  We have never had so much help moving and it was so needed and appreciated.

Once we finally rolled into Garden City at about 5:00 that evening, my Dad and Gus were there to help unload as were some great neighbors.  As exhausting as the day felt, I don't think it could have gone any smoother and I was so grateful for that.

We are very slowly unpacking and I am just trying to remind myself that we are not on any timetable to have things settled.  But, I have to admit, the unsettled-ness of it all is definitely getting to me!  Patience...patience with myself!

We are getting settled though and are excited for all of the adventures that are ahead of us.  Garden City will forever hold a tender place in my heart.  It is where Mark and I met, fell in love, and got engaged.  It is where we lived the first six months of our marriage.  It is where our family began.  And even though it was always the dream to return to this place, I still can't quite believe that we are now living next door to where all of those events took place.  Life is a beautiful thing.

Packing

Ever since we went "under contract" with the house I have been trying to be in pack mode.  In the past I've just attacked packing the week of moving.  But I knew that I would most likely be packing on my own with Mark traveling for work and I knew being pregnant I just wasn't going to be able to pull it off.  So I've just been trying to do a little bit a day.

It's actually gone really well.  It feels nice to not have too much pressure and just do whatever I can do every day.  And the kidlets seemed to really enjoy it!  They like going through things and putting them into boxes.  They are excited to go to our new house and are giddy to think that we are moving to "Bear Lake".  I am pretty sure Jacob thinks we are moving to the beach!

She is such a cheeser!

I couldn't decide which of these pictures was better - it's a toss up!
I love these two!
They were pretty excited to find these old baby hats!

Things are going smoothly and now we are ready to attack!
Here we go again!

Kids These Days

Jacob and Sarah have become quite a pair.  They are like the mischief squad.  The cutest squad I've ever seen but mischievous none the less.  It seems every time I turn around one of them has something going on.  Sometimes it's actually pretty funny and sometimes I wonder how it is even possible.

A couple weeks ago, we were going out (this was the day of our last showing!) and I could not find my wallet anywhere.  We were in a hurry so I just packed up the kids and left and figured it would turn up.  A couple days went by and I still couldn't find my wallet.  Surprisingly, I really wasn't all that concerned.  I felt sure that I had seen it AT HOME prior to not being able to find it and I had been checking our accounts and nothing was going on.

Finally, I decided that I needed to locate it (again, I don't know why I was so casual about this) and so I looked ALL over the house and ALL over the car and nothing.  I finally decided to start calling some places I had gone to the day before I noticed it was missing - in case something had been turned in.  As I was on the phone asking about my wallet I walked into the kitchen, where Jacob was sitting coloring, and he heard me ask about my wallet and he perks up and says (very happily and proud, I might add), "Oh I know where your wallet is!"

He immediately runs downstairs and I finish my call.  He then comes bounding upstairs carrying my wallet.  It was so cute and endearing I couldn't help but laugh.  I asked him where my wallet was and he smiles big and says, "under my bed."  The little turkey.

Sarah, well, Sarah always seems to be getting into something.  Her biggest thing is just climbing EVERYWHERE!  She is constantly crawling all over everything.  She gets herself into places that don't even make any sense.

Also, one day when I made the mistake of letting Jacob color with markers, they ended up all in Sarah's hair, face, clothes, as well as our blinds.  Seriously.  Thank goodness for washable markers...and children...I got a glimpse of what Sarah would look like with pink highlights...not my favorite.

Then one day, after quiet time, I came downstairs to see lots of piles of little fur on the floor.  Jacob decided to have a little barber shop during quiet time with his animals as well as his own hair!  I guess this is payback for cutting my sisters' Barbie's hair when I was younger.  When I asked Jacob where he got the scissors he led me to...you guessed it - UNDER HIS BED!  Let me tell you, it was like a treasure trove down there.  Also, he had made holes in his bed skirt.  Seriously!

I love these hooligans but they keep me on my toes.  Am I crazy that we are having another one?!  Really, I am so excited.  Kids keep you young, right?!  And these events were seriously just over a couple of days.  I wouldn't trade it for anything though.

Also, for the record, Jacob's bed cave is now being closely monitored.  I now know where all of his secrets are kept!  That is, until he finds a new one.  Little smarty pants.
