House Sold

I am so excited to say that our home has SOLD!!!

Selling our home has been stressful...I can't imagine a situation in which it's not stressful!  We have way too much going on right now and having our home sell is a HUGE check off of our list and I already feel lighter about everything!

Prior to listing our home I was hearing all of these wonder stories about people selling their home within hours of listing.  I was feeling pretty good about the market going in.  Our home was listed and showings seemed really sporadic.  We would have a week where we would have three or four and then a week or two with nothing.  It was discouraging and stressful.

Finally about two or three weeks ago we had a showing and were told that the couple was very interested.  We were thrilled about it.  It got even more interesting when we parked at the elementary school by our house waiting for them to leave the house and they ended up driving over to us (randomly!) and asked about the neighborhood and home.  It was just the wife at this particular showing but it was great to talk to her and learn about her family.  We were feeling really confident about receiving an offer after talking to her so we were just waiting.

Well, time kept passing and nothing was happening.  Our realtors kept talking back and forth and they kept having various hang ups with the house.  Finally, last week we decided we couldn't wait any more and dropped our price some more and hoped for the best.

Last Friday, we had two showings and late that night I received a call.  It was from one of the realtors who had showed the house that day and he asked if they could come and look at the house again the next day (Saturday) and that they were very interested.  I was cautiously optimistic.

Saturday morning I woke up to a text from our realtor saying we had an offer on the table!  I was shocked!  It turned out to be an offer from the original couple interested in our home.  And it was a solid offer.  We were excited just to have something and we would have been fine to accept it.  But knowing that this other couple was coming back to look that day I told our realtor and he contacted them and told them the situation.

We couldn't have asked for it to go any better.  It was the craziest day (especially because Mark was working and it was hard talking things over with him!)!  Long story short, they ended up bidding against each other all afternoon and we signed with the new buyers late that afternoon!  I couldn't believe the turn of events and going from no interest to having that kind of day.  It was truly such a blessing and worked out better than Mark and I could have ever hoped.

We feel so grateful - so so grateful.

It is a huge wait off of our shoulders and this new family (that we met at church on Sunday) seems great and are so excited and I just feel happy that both sides are so happy with the arrangement.

It's starting to hit me more and more that we are actually moving now.  It is definitely bittersweet.  We've loved this home, even if we were only here for such a short time.  We've loved being home owners and saw so many possibilities here.  This neighborhood and ward have been incredible.  I can't say anything negative about them!  I am so excited for our family to actually see each other every day again but it is sad to leave.

We are so grateful though to have this BIG CHECK on our list though and now get to move on to the next step!
